Recommendation Letter Writing Tips

When writing a letter of recommendation from your goal should be to provide a fair trial, but positive for the applicant's skills, character and qualities. Before starting to write a letter of recommendation, take some time and plan what you mean. Here are some tips to make your task easier.

Please indicate your relationship to the applicant

Start the letter explaining how you know the applicant. Is important. If you are not familiar with the applicant, not supposed to write a letter of recommendation from her. What type of relationship with the applicant - personal or professional? Why do you think this applicant stands out from the rest of his caliber? You must also state your qualifications for writing the letter of recommendation.

List the skills of the applicant

Once explained his relationship with the applicant, which should list the applicant's skills and qualifications that make you a suitable candidate for the position you have applied for. Write about your previous experience in the field, organizational skills, academic or other achievements. Put special emphasis on those points you want the reader to consider the applicant's resume.

Give your opinion of the applicant. Why do you think that is better than the rest? Include specific examples to support what you said about the applicant's skills and strengths. Avoid widespread praise because it is a waste of time and space.

Do not be too brief

Do not be too brief but necessary. Make sure every word counts. Write more than two or three paragraphs. A letter of recommendation for employment should be a page, a letter of recommendation from the university should be 1 or 2 pages.

Write a strong closing statement, but resist the temptation to exaggerate. Praise the applicant and his skills, but do not give excessive praise, as it would be seen as insincere.

Give your contact information if you are willing to entertain correspondence tracking.

Correct

A letter of recommendation represents two people - the person writing and the person to whom it is written. Do not create a bad impression by writing a letter full of grammatical and spelling errors. So correct before sending the letter.

What not to write a letter of recommendation?

Do not expose the weaknesses of the applicant. Do not forget that you are writing a letter of recommendation. It should not include anything negative that would affect the applicant's chances of getting the job or promotion. If you can not give a positive opinion, we should not consider writing a letter of recommendation in the first place.
